Etf Preview: Etfs, Futures Edge Higher In The Wake Of Ecb's Qe Program; Upbeat Earnings Lift Sentiment - Nasdaq.com

Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X shares (FAS) was up 1.46% and its bearish counterpart, FAZ, was down 3.24%. Bank Of New York Mellon (BK) was down 1.32% after it reported Q4 results that missed the Street view on EPS and total revenues. The bank reported Q4 adjusted EPS of $0.58, up from $0.54 in the same period a year ago but missing analyst estimates of $0.60. Results were adjusted for the previously disclosed benefit of a tax carryback claim. Total revenues of $3.66 billion were down from $3.76 billion in Q4 2013 and missed analyst projections of $3.80 billion.

Winners and Losers Financial Select Financial Sector SPDRs (XLF) was up 0.64%. Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X shares (FAS) was up 1.46% and its bearish counterpart, FAZ, was down 3.24%. The Travelers Companies (TRV) was up 1.09% after it reported Q4 results that beat the Street view. The Travelers Companies reported Q4 operating earnings of $3.07 per share on $6.78 billion in revenue versus $2.54 per share on $5.99 billion, according to Capital IQ estimates.

Thailand ETF Again Shrugs Off Political Fears - Yahoo Finance

Another prominent theme is investors increased use of sector and dividend ETFs. As of Dec. 26, there was $311.1 billion allocated to sector ETFs with energy ETFs accounting for $44.7 billion of that total, according to Bloomberg . http://www.etftradingsignals.com There was a shift back to Sector ETFs, which represented 19% of flows, versus 7% in 2013. Real Estate was back in favor, accounting for nearly half of the Sector flows. Flows into all Sector categories were positive, except for Consumer Cyclical, according to Schwab.
